The sound of cicadas is very evocative and rather a welcome sound here. The weather becomes less humid. The sound ushers in the cooler, crisper air and the promise of beautiful fall colors that presages the excitement of the season. The last three months of the year here in New England are perhaps the most beautiful, or in any case, the most energizing. I look forward to this with happiness. An old neighbor of mine used to say that when the cicadas' sound was continuous, it was six weeks until frost. Well, this is not usually the case, but the sound does anticipate exciting and fun events. The summer has passed uneventfully, as is it should be, and Mom is doing well. I wish everyone a good end of summer, and to those in the South, a pleasant ushering in of the summer months

have a nice spring week-end!
